Giegling

Weimar, Germany — vinyl only since 2009

The collective

Giegling didn't start as a label — it started as a party. In the late 2000s, a group of friends who had moved to Weimar to study at the Bauhaus University began throwing nights in an abandoned building in the city park, a place they called "the Giegling." When the building was demolished in 2008, the name stayed with them, and what had been a gathering point became a vinyl-only label.

There has never been a single boss. Konstantin — also known as Herr Koreander, one half of Kettenkarussell — has long been the collective's central, decisive voice, but Giegling was built and is still run by a tight circle of friends: DJ Dustin, Leafar Legov, Dwig and others who came together around those first nights. The same hands cover the music, the distribution and the artwork — sleeves are often hand-stamped or hand-painted, no two entirely alike.

Introverted, emotional, unhurried: Giegling has never chased the dancefloor's expectations, and that's exactly what built its following.
